1. Where can we use balance regulating valves?

HVAC systems

Water flow balance in parallel boilers, plate heat exchangers or water chilled units: In HVAC systems, static balancing valves are used to regulate and measure the water flow in boilers or chillers to ensure stable operation of the system. At the same time, in the event of abnormal flow in the system, the diagnostic function of the static balancing valve can be used to quickly identify the point of failure.

Water flow balance of pipe network inside the building: In the heating or cooling pipe network inside the building, the static balancing valve is usually set on the main pipe, branch pipe or even the return pipe at the end (only when the static balance program is applied), and appropriate commissioning methods are adopted to ensure that the design flow rate can be achieved at each end, so as to realize the flow balance.

Domestic water system

Domestic water reheat circulation system: In the reheat circulation system, the static balancing valve can ensure that water flows evenly back to all points of use, allowing hot water to be quickly available when the hot water valve is opened.

2. What is the working principle of balance regulating valves?

The working principle of the Balance Regulating Valves is mainly through the adjustment of the gap between the spool and the valve seat (i.e., the degree of opening) to change the resistance of the fluid through the valve. The handwheel has a scale that corresponds accurately to the Kv value at each position. According to the flow equation Q = Kv * √ △ P, if the Kv value is known, at this time, only the pressure difference △ P (bar) between the two ends of the balance valve needs to be measured to know the flow rate of the valve Q (m3 / H). Accurate control of the flow is the basis of the system balance. Of course, in order to ensure the accuracy of the measurement, the static balancing valve needs to be installed to ensure that the valve inlet is 10 times the pipe diameter length(in front of the pump) or 5 times the pipe diameter length (in the pipeline), and the valve outlet is 2 times the pipe diameter length of the straight pipe section.

In addition, static balancing valves are usually equipped with a flow measurement port and a locking mechanism. The flow measurement port is used to monitor and display the actual flow rate, temperature, etc. through the valve to help the operator understand the current flow status. The locking mechanism is used to lock the spool position after adjustment is completed, preventing unauthorized personnel from arbitrarily changing the set state and ensuring stable operation of the system. In order to ensure that the scale can be read normally, TALOAR static balancing valves are equipped with a transparent protection window at the scale, preventing dust and other factors from affecting the accuracy of the reading in the later stage.

3. What are the advantages of balance regulating valves?

Precise flow control

Static balancing valves are able to precisely control and regulate the flow in the system, thus ensuring that the flow and pressure in each part of the system reaches the desired equilibrium state.

Improved system efficiency

By ensuring that the flow in each circuit or branch is balanced, the static balancing valve helps to improve the overall efficiency of the system and reduce energy waste. It prevents overloading of equipment or loss of energy efficiency caused by unbalanced flow.

Reduce energy consumption

Balanced flow can reduce the energy loss in the system due to excessive flow, thus reducing energy consumption and operating costs.

Improve system performance

Static balancing valve can ensure that all parts of the system can obtain the design flow, thus ensuring the overall performance and reliability of the system.

Reduce equipment wear and tear

Balanced flow and pressure reduces wear and tear on equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, pipe, etc.), thereby extending equipment life and reducing maintenance frequency.

4. What is a auto-flow balancing valve?

Auto-flow balancing valve is also a kind of dynamic balancing valve, which will automatically adjust the opening according to the system changes, so as to realize the dynamic balance of variable flow system. It is suitable for switching equipment, not for regulating equipment. In addition, compared with the differential pressure control valve, resistance is large.

Installation position

Auto-flow balancing valves can be installed in the circulating water system, both in the water supply pipe can be installed in the return pipe.

Working principle of auto-flow balancing valves

The auto-flow balancing valve is composed of one or more valve gallons, and there are V-shaped holes on the side of the valve gallons. When the system pressure difference is large, the valve gallons will automatically close small, reducing the overflow area, so as to ensure that the valve flow rate is constant.

Application scenario

With the wide application of variable flow system, the application of auto-flow balancing valves is more and more restricted. It can be changed to differential pressure control valve group program to make the system more reasonable and energy saving.
