1. How does a multi-function valve work?

The working principle of multi-function valves will vary depending on their specific functional design and structure.

Generally speaking, a multi-function valve is a valve that integrates the functions of multiple valves into one, with common functions such as regulating flow, shutting off fluids, and preventing backflow.

For example, a common multi-functional control valve may have a special spool structure and flow path design inside. When a control signal is input, the spool is moved or rotated by means of mechanical transmission or electric drive, etc., to change the cross-sectional area and shape of the flow path, thereby regulating the flow and pressure of the fluid.

Some multi-function valves may also be equipped with elements such as springs and diaphragms to realize the sensing and control of pressure. When the system pressure exceeds the set value, the deformation of the spring or diaphragm will push the valve spool action, playing the role of pressure relief or flow restriction.

Another example is the multi-function valve with anti-reverse flow function, there is usually a one-way valve structure inside, which only allows the fluid to flow in a specific direction and prevents the fluid from flowing in the reverse direction.

In short, the working principle of multifunctional valves is based on its internal complex and sophisticated structural design, through the spool position, flow path shape and other changes to achieve control functions.

2. What are the factors to consider when choosing a multi-function valve?

Functional requirements

Define the specific functions required, such as flow regulation, pressure control, check, shunt, etc., to ensure that the selected valve can meet all the functional requirements of the system.

Working medium

Consider the type of media (liquid, gas, steam), corrosivity, temperature, viscosity and cleanliness and other characteristics, to select the appropriate medium of the valve body and sealing materials.

Working pressure and temperature

Determine the maximum and normal operating pressure and temperature range of the system, then the selected valve should be able to operate safely and reliably under these conditions.

Flow characteristics

According to the system requirements for flow control, select the multi-function valve with appropriate flow characteristics (such as linear, equal percentage, fast opening, etc.).

Control accuracy

If there is a high demand for control accuracy, select the valve with good regulating performance and sensitive response.

Connection

Consider the connection method with pipeline, such as flange connection, threaded connection, solder, etc., to match the pipeline system.

Size and calibre

Select the appropriate size and calibre of the valve to ensure that it can meet the flow requirements of the system, while avoiding the uneconomical and performance problems caused by too large or too small.

Material quality

Valve body, spool, seat and other parts of the material should have good strength, corrosion resistance and wear resistance.

Brand and reliability

Give priority to well-known brands and products with good reputation and reliable quality.

Maintenance and repair

Consider the convenience of maintenance and maintenance costs of the valve. Choose simple structure, easy maintenance and replacement parts of the product.

3. Taloar multi-function valves' unique design features

Position indicator

No lubrication required

Reserved connections for testing

Removable top cap design, making the pipeline repair easy

Horizontal or vertical installation

O-ring seal, zero leakage

Multiple functions, saving purchasing cost

Taloar’s multi-functional valve can perform more functions on the same valve body. First, it can be used as silencing check valve or on-off valve. Apart from that, it can also be a balance valve. Besides, it has two connections points reserved for testing.

A unique V-shaped seat is used in the valve therefore the valve has good regulating performance. Due to the design features, the valve can be maintained in the pipelines without special tools, without the need for removing the valve from the pipeline.

The multi-function valve integrates the functions of butterfly valve, balance valve, silencing check valve and measuring valve. The use of the multi-functional valve can shorten installation time, reduce installation space, and save installation cost (including hardware cost, labor cost, etc.).
